I always hear people say that they are either a lemon lover or a chocolate lover and I never really understood that – why can’t you be both?? If I had to pick, I (obviously) pick chocolate. But I really love lemon too! So even though I could eat these chocolate frosted donuts every day, I wanted to give lemon donuts a shot.

And wow, I’m so glad I did! These baked lemon donuts are absolutely amazing. The flavor is delicious – so fresh and citrusy.  I think these would be a lovely thing to make for Mother’s Day brunch!

Is anyone else really into springy recipes lately? The weather is warmer and all the trees are in bloom here in NYC – it is so gorgeous! And it has me in the mood to cook lighter, healthier foods. I am slightly obsessed with the Food Network and have been for years. Specifically with Ina Garten and Giada de Laurentiis. I think I have seen every single episode of both of their shows. I just love the food they make, and they also both have pretty awesome lives. I have spent many a Saturday morning living vicariously through their shows. So when Ina had Giada as a guest on her show, I pretty much freaked! I was so excited. I still have it saved on my TiVo – TheBetterHalf keeps trying to delete it but I won’t let him! And ever since the show aired (ages ago!) I have been thinking about these Lemon Mascarpone Gnocchi that they made together. I finally got around to making them, and they definitely lived up to expectations!
