Happy Friday! It has been awhile since I posted a cocktail recipe and so I figured that Friday was the perfect day to share a delicious margarita recipe with you – Lemon Lime Ginger Margaritas! I am obsessed with ginger in drinks right now. Anytime a menu has a ginger cocktail, I must order it. I love the spicy sweet taste that it gives drinks, and it really adds a great depth of flavor to this ginger margarita.

I could use one of these margs right about now. I’m sitting on a plane to St. Louis heading to see my Mom for Mother’s Day (yay!) and dealing with the airport is always so stressful. I have been hearing all week about these horrible storms in the Midwest and the weather forecast in StL is thunderstorms all day. So I decided at the last second to run out the door and try to get on an earlier flight to beat the storm – I’m talking leaving the city at 11:20am to try to make a 12:30pm flight! Luckily, it is the most gorgeous day ever in NYC so there was no traffic getting to the airport. After nervously standing at the gate for 45 minutes, I got the very last seat on the flight, hooray! But a lemon lime ginger margarita would taste REALLY great to me now.

My current view: View from Above, NYC - STL | ChezCateyLou.com

The ginger flavor in this cocktail recipe comes from ginger simple syrup. It is easy to make, and you can keep the lefotvers in your fridge for future cocktail recipes. I even added some of the simple syrup to club soda with a squeeze of lime for a refreshing spritzer! I used both lemon and lime in this ginger margarita because I thought it would be fun to change it up a bit. You can definitely use all lime if you prefer that.

TheBetterHalf and I enjoyed these up on our building’s roofdeck last weekend (check out the picture here). We’ve been having some great weather and it is so fun to enjoy the view of NYC and the outdoors with a refreshing cocktail.

    For the Ginger Simple Syrup
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 cup water
  • 4 oz fresh ginger
  • For the Margarita
  • 1/4 cup fresh lemon juice
  • 1/4 cup fresh lime juice
  • 1/2 cup tequila
  • 1/4 cup ginger simple syrup
  • dash of salt
  • candied ginger (for garnish)

Yes. Yes, and YES! These sound amazing! I’m glad you made your flight. Were you flying standby? I don’t mind traveling when I do it alone, but flying standby? Or even worse – flying standby + kids? Oh gosh. Medicate me. 😉 Thankfully now I have enough kids that flying anywhere with them is pretty much not an option, so yay me! 🙂

I can’t believe you made the flight in such short time! I’m a wreck when I fly so I would have started crying from stress…haha. These margaritas look delicious and maybe if I had a few of those I wouldn’t mind a rush to the airport 🙂
