I know we are well into the new year, but this is my first post of 2016 so….Happy New Year! My slow down in blogging is entirely because of this. I work full-time, and I used to spend my free time daydreaming about (and then making, photographing, and writing about) cookies and breads and cakes…now most of my free time is spent researching baby things and attempting to sleep.  Growing a baby takes a lot of energy!  I’m still around, just won’t be posting as frequently.  But when I do post, the recipes are definitely going to be some of my favorites!  Like this Chocolate Chip Sweet Potato Bread.  I have already made this three times this year!  We absolutely love it – it is quickly becoming a breakfast favorite. …

Kale Pesto Ricotta Crostini

Kale pesto, made with fresh mint and toasted walnuts, and ricotta are the perfect topping for crostini – it makes a quick, easy, and delicious appetizer!

Kale Pesto Ricotta Crostini | ChezCateyLou.com

Now that spring is here and there is actually daylight after work, we love spending time on the rooftop of our building. There is something so relaxing about looking out over the hustle and bustle of the city, but being so far above it. And of course a nice glass of wine helps with the relaxation and enjoyment! Nothing beats enjoying a crisp glass of white wine on a warm evening looking out over NYC, especially when that wine is a Spanish one from Ribera y Rueda.

Having a delicious appetizer to enjoy with the wine is a necessity. I love easy appetizer recipes that taste amazing and look pretty – to me that is the best way to entertain! These Crostini topped with Kale Pesto and Ricotta fit the bill – they are delicious and are so simple to prepare.

Orange Yogurt Cake

Orange Yogurt Cake (aka orange yogurt bread) is so moist thanks to a cup of Greek yogurt and a delicious orange syrup that is poured over the warm cake.
Orange Yogurt Cake | ChezCateyLou.com

We have been absolutely obsessed with this Orange Yogurt Cake for the past few weeks. I seriously can’t stop making (and eating) it. The texture is just so amazing – super moist from a full cup of Greek yogurt. And then to make it even better, an orange simple syrup is poured over the warm cake. So good! I made a lime version of this the other day, and I can’t wait to try a lemon version too. This is definitely my current go-to breakfast / snack / dessert recipe!

Golden Raisin Pecan Bread | chezcateylou.com

What is your favorite food? I know it is so hard to pick, but if you absolutely forced me to, I think I would say bread. I love bread! And it doesn’t get any better than this homemade Golden Raisin Pecan Bread.

Seriously, this loaf is a winner. Everything about it is perfect – the texture, the flavor, the crust, the looks. It is one of the best loaves I’m made so far. And bonus – the recipe makes two loaves so you can eat one right away and freeze slices of the other one to have fresh bread for weeks!  The recipe comes from one of my favorite cookbooks, Flour: Spectacular Recipes from Boston’s Flour Bakery + Cafe.
