I’m back! Or am I? I’m not quite sure yet. All I know is that Friday after work I was in the mood to bake something. So I made a Lemon Raspberry Yogurt Cake. And it turned out well. And Saturday morning while Carlyle napped I decided to take some pictures. And they weren’t half bad.  So I thought maybe I should start blogging again! I realized I have kind of missed this.  Even though I have about zero free time these days, I’m going to hopefully figure out a way to start sharing recipes with you again.  We shall see how this goes…

After such a long time away, we have a lot to discuss – like the birth of my sweet baby girl, my cross country move to San Francisco, and lots of Bay Area travels – but I will save all of that for other posts. For now, I will just talk about this beautiful, summery, Lemon Raspberry Yogurt Cake….

Well, it is time.  I tried to wait, but I just couldn’t.  It is futile to try to resist it.  And what is “it” you ask?  PUMPKIN!!!  I’m actually kind of mad at myself…I try not to bake with pumpkin until it is fall, and just because the calendar says September and school has started does not mean it is fall yet – there are still 12 more days of summer left!! And with the temperatures in NYC right now, it feels like early August!  But I just couldn’t help myself.  Pumpkin has overtaken the blogging world, and after looking at pumpkin recipe after pumpkin recipe, I just HAD to make something for myself.  After all, pumpkin is one of my absolute favorite things to bake with – I devoted a whole week to pumpkin deliciousness last year!  So, for my first recipe of the season I bring you Pumpkin Cheesecake Bars with a Golden Oreo Crust – a pretty great way to kick off pumpkin season!

I don’t know about you, but I definitely get in breakfast routines. I will eat the same thing every weekday morning for weeks or even months at a time. The past few weeks it has been a mini bagel with cream cheese and fresh berries, but for pretty much all of June and July it was exactly what is pictured here – fresh fruit (preferably a ripe peach with some berries) with Greek yogurt and my classic granola. I go through this breakfast phase pretty much every summer – the second it starts to get warm, I just crave a granola parfait. And I love making it with homemade granola – I think it is so much better than store bought!

Do you ever get obsessed with a certain food / recipe? I go through phases where I eat the same thing literally every day until I’m sick of it. For awhile, it was these pancakes (one of my favorite solo dinner meals!) And right now, it is this Mango Strawberry Smoothie. I have found my perfect smoothie combo! Frozen mangos, fresh strawberries, light vanilla yogurt, and pineapple-coconut water. Love love love it.   The flavor is amazing, and it is so refreshing.  I’m absolutely obsessed!

We have been absolutely obsessed with this Orange Yogurt Cake for the past few weeks. I seriously can’t stop making (and eating) it. The texture is just so amazing – super moist from a full cup of Greek yogurt. And then to make it even better, an orange simple syrup is poured over the warm cake. So good! I made a lime version of this the other day, and I can’t wait to try a lemon version too. This is definitely my current go-to breakfast / snack / dessert recipe!
