St. Nick’s Day is the feast day of St. Nicholas, and is celebrated by leaving a shoe outside your bedroom door the night of Dec. 5. St. Nick comes in the night and fills your shoe with sweet treats! This holiday is celebrated in many European countries, and in the US it is celebrated in cities with a strong German influence – like St. Louis! Growing up we always celebrated St. Nick’s Day at school and at home.

I have been thinking about making these cute lil Red, White, and Blue Smoothie for months now, and then all of a sudden the time to make them was here! You knew I couldn’t let a holiday pass without making a donut for it, right?? Especially a holiday like Easter, when brunch is the star of the show. And what would a good Easter brunch be without some donuts?! I’ve seen so many Easter goodies on Pinterest lately that look like bird nests and Easter baskets. They are seriously so adorable! I clearly needed to get in on the cuteness action, so I made a baked coconut donut and decorated it to look like a nest.
