I am loving my new site design! A big thanks to the wonderful Katie at Twin Stripe for designing my logo. Didn’t she do an amazing job? Also a big thanks to TheBetterHalf for dealing with all the technical headaches that came along with this lovely new site. I’ll tell you what, all this blogging stuff is a lot harder than we thought it would be! But it is totally worth it.

So in honor of the first post on my newly designed site,  I made peanut butter chocolate chip muffins.  I obviously had to include peanut butter, my one true love (sorry TheBetterHalf, but that’s payback for when you wouldn’t say you loved me more than the Eagles).

Lemon Ricotta Pancakes

Ricotta and whipped eggwhites make these lemon ricotta pancakes the lightest and fluffiest pancakes I have ever eaten! Perfect for weekend breakfasts!

Sunday morning = pancake time. Growing up, my dad made us a big breakfast almost every Sunday.  It was the best. Well, it still is the best because he still cooks breakfast any time I am home in St. Louis. Tons of bacon. Fresh squeezed orange juice. Fried eggs if you want them (cooked in bacon fat and served on rye toast. that is worthy of its own blog post). And of course, my favorite, pancakes.

I still crave pancakes pretty much every weekend. And while I will always love good old fashioned plain pancakes, I love trying out new varieties. Like these lemon ricotta pancakes.

Charleston, South Carolina is a charming southern town full of amazing food. Here are two of our favorite meals in Charleston – Husk and Xiao Bao Biscuit.

Friday Dinner Series is back with a look at two of our favorite spots in Charleston, South Carolina. A few weeks back, Cate and I escaped snowy New York City for a weekend trip to one of the South’s culinary hotbeds. As a Northerner you won’t hear me say this too often, but man, the South really knows how to eat. Biscuits and gravy, fried chicken, bacon everywhere – and tons of beer and bourbon to wash it down. If I wasn’t 90% sure all of those things were bad for you I’d never eat anything else.

Charleston certainly excels at traditional southern food, but there’s more to their food scene than just shrimp and grits. They have an incredible amount of great restaurants in a relatively small area. Today, a quick look at Husk (actually, the Bar at Husk) and Xiao Bao Biscuit.

The never-ending debate: what to eat for dinner? I’d like to tell you all that I cook a healthy and balanced dinner every night for TheBetterHalf and myself……but I don’t. It is just so hard to find the time!!  That is why I just love recipes like this Buffalo Chicken Quinoa Bake!! I can make it on a lazy Sunday, and then we have a healthy and delicious dinner ready on Monday! It has all the components of a balanced meal in one, and it tastes AMAZING.

Uncle Boons – NYC

Uncle Boons has some of the best Thai food in all of New York City – everything is incredible and so flavorful. It is one of our all time favorite restaurants!

I have a lot of favorite restaurants in New York.  I usually qualify those statements to some degree; Sfoglia is my favorite neighborhood restaurant, Gramercy Tavern is my favorite restaurant to spend an afternoon, Mission Chinese is my favorite restaurant that inexplicably was shut down by the health department, and so on. But if I had to eat one meal in New York City right now, I’d go to Uncle Boons. So I guess that makes Uncle Boons my favorite favorite restaurant (at least for the time being).  So what is it about this Thai restaurant that makes it so special?…
